00:00:23.140 --> 00:00:26.971
The Epistle of Paul to the Philippians, Chapter 1.

00:00:26.971 --> 00:00:31.292
We, Paul and Timothy, are writing this letter.

00:00:31.292 --> 00:00:33.165
We serve Christ Jesus.

00:00:33.165 --> 00:00:38.411
We are sending this letter to you all, god's holy people in Philippi.

00:00:38.411 --> 00:00:41.148
You belong to Christ Jesus.

00:00:41.148 --> 00:00:45.231
We are also sending this letter to your leaders and deacons.

00:00:45.231 --> 00:00:50.572
May God, our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, give you grace and peace.

00:00:52.182 --> 00:00:53.125
I thank my God.

00:00:53.125 --> 00:00:56.722
Every time I remember you In all my prayers.

00:00:56.722 --> 00:00:59.951
For all of you, I always pray with joy.

00:00:59.951 --> 00:01:04.411
I am happy because you have joined me in spreading the good news.

00:01:04.411 --> 00:01:08.450
You have done so from the first day until now.

00:01:08.450 --> 00:01:15.873
God began a good work in you and I am sure that he will carry it on until it is completed.

00:01:15.873 --> 00:01:19.530
That will be on the day Christ Jesus returns.

00:01:20.881 --> 00:01:23.930
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you.

00:01:23.930 --> 00:01:26.408
I love you with all my heart.

00:01:26.408 --> 00:01:32.572
I may be held by chains or I may be standing up for the truth of the good news.

00:01:32.572 --> 00:01:37.411
Either way, all of you share in God's grace together with me.

00:01:37.411 --> 00:01:41.450
God is my witness that I long for all of you.

00:01:41.450 --> 00:01:44.828
I love you with the love that Christ Jesus gives.

00:01:44.828 --> 00:01:47.840
Long for all of you.

00:01:47.840 --> 00:01:48.862
I love you with the love that Christ Jesus gives.

00:01:48.862 --> 00:01:51.650
I pray that your love will grow more and more and let it be based on knowledge and understanding.

00:01:51.650 --> 00:01:54.962
Then you will be able to know what is best.

00:01:54.962 --> 00:01:58.129
Then you will be pure and without blame.

00:01:58.129 --> 00:02:05.671
For the day that Christ returns, you will be filled with the fruit of right living produced by Jesus Christ.

00:02:05.671 --> 00:02:09.530
All these things bring glory and praise to God.

00:02:09.530 --> 00:02:14.911
Brothers and sisters, here is what I want you to know.

00:02:16.040 --> 00:02:19.330
What has happened to me has actually helped to spread the good news.

00:02:19.330 --> 00:02:33.563
One thing has become clear I am being held by chains because I am a witness for Christ All the palace guards and everyone else know it and because I am a prisoner.

00:02:33.563 --> 00:02:37.092
Most of the believers have become bolder in the Lord.

00:02:37.092 --> 00:02:42.111
They now dare even more to preach the good news without fear.

00:02:42.111 --> 00:02:50.996
It's true that some preach about Christ because they are jealous, but others preach about Christ to help me in my work.

00:02:52.221 --> 00:02:54.248
The last group acts out of love.

00:02:54.248 --> 00:03:00.551
They know I have been put here to be a witness for the good news.

00:03:00.551 --> 00:03:04.389
But the others preach about Christ only to get ahead.

00:03:04.389 --> 00:03:07.608
They preach Christ for the wrong reasons.

00:03:07.608 --> 00:03:12.532
They think they can stir up trouble for me while I am being held by chains.

00:03:12.532 --> 00:03:15.046
But what does it matter?

00:03:15.860 --> 00:03:17.344
Here is the important thing.

00:03:17.344 --> 00:03:21.182
Whether for right or wrong reasons, Christ is being preached about.

00:03:21.182 --> 00:03:26.252
That makes me very glad and I will continue to be glad.

00:03:26.252 --> 00:03:28.682
I know that you are praying for me.

00:03:28.682 --> 00:03:32.872
I also know that God will give me the Spirit of Jesus Christ to help me.

00:03:32.872 --> 00:03:38.171
So, no matter what happens, I'm sure I will still be set free.

00:03:38.171 --> 00:03:43.151
I completely expect and hope that I won't be ashamed in any way.

00:03:43.151 --> 00:03:46.247
I'm sure I will be brave enough.

00:03:46.247 --> 00:03:51.290
Now as always, Christ will receive glory because of what happens to me.

00:03:51.290 --> 00:03:54.729
He will receive glory whether I live or die.

00:03:55.600 --> 00:03:59.050
For me, life finds all its meaning in Christ.

00:03:59.050 --> 00:04:02.087
Death also has its benefits.

00:04:02.087 --> 00:04:09.032
Suppose I go on living in my body, then I will be able to carry on my work.

00:04:09.032 --> 00:04:11.546
It will bear a lot of fruit.

00:04:11.546 --> 00:04:13.544
But what should I choose?

00:04:13.544 --> 00:04:15.189
I don't know.

00:04:15.189 --> 00:04:17.367
I can't decide between the two.

00:04:18.720 --> 00:04:22.692
I long to leave this world and be with Christ.

00:04:22.692 --> 00:04:24.987
That is better by far.

00:04:24.987 --> 00:04:29.089
But it is more important for you that I stay alive.

00:04:29.089 --> 00:04:30.946
I'm sure of this.

00:04:30.946 --> 00:04:40.293
So I know I will remain with you and I will continue with all of you to help you grow in your faith.

00:04:40.293 --> 00:04:46.470
I will also continue to help you be joyful in what you have been taught.

00:04:47.911 --> 00:04:49.880
I'm sure I will be with you again.

00:04:49.880 --> 00:04:55.785
Then you will be able to boast in Christ Jesus even more because of me.

00:04:55.785 --> 00:04:58.447
To boast in Christ Jesus even more because of me, no matter what happens.

00:04:58.447 --> 00:05:02.170
Live in a way that brings honor to the good news about Christ.

00:05:02.170 --> 00:05:07.574
Then I will know that you remain strong, together in the one spirit.

00:05:07.574 --> 00:05:12.637
I will know this if I come and see you or only hear about you.

00:05:12.637 --> 00:05:21.122
I will know that you work together as one person.

00:05:21.122 --> 00:05:22.985
I will know that you work to spread the teachings about the good news.

00:05:22.985 --> 00:05:26.372
So don't be afraid in any way of those who oppose you.

00:05:26.372 --> 00:05:32.286
This will show them that they will be destroyed and that you will be saved.

00:05:32.286 --> 00:05:34.588
That's what God will do.

00:05:34.588 --> 00:05:38.973
Here is what he has given you to do for Christ.

00:05:38.973 --> 00:05:44.206
You must not only believe in him, you must also suffer for him.

00:05:44.206 --> 00:05:51.541
You are going through the same struggle you saw me go through, as you have heard.

00:05:51.541 --> 00:05:53.363
I am still struggling.
